General Alexus G. Grynkewich

General Alexus G. Grynkewich assumed duties as the Supreme Allied Commander Europe on July 4, 2025. He also serves as the Commander of United States European Command. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Director for Operations, J-3, (Joint Staff), Washington, D.C.
General Grynkewich received his commission in 1993, and has served as an instructor pilot, weapons officer, and operational test pilot in the F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-22 Raptor. He has commanded at the squadron, wing, Air Expeditionary Task Force, and Numbered Air Force levels including as commander of 9th Air Force (Air Forces Central) and Combined Forces Air Component Commander for U.S. Central Command.
General Grynkewich’s staff assignments include service at Air Combat Command, U.S. European Command, U.S. Central Command, Headquarters Air Force, and the Joint Staff.
He earned his commission and a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and holds master’s degrees from the University of Georgia, the Naval Postgraduate School, and the Joint Advanced Warfighting School.
General Grynkewich is a command pilot with more than 2,300 hours in 16 aircraft.
He is married to Shannon Grynkewich, and they have one son.
